Watched a goat get killed

When’s the last time you woke up at six and watched the sun set during a light jog?
When’s the last time you lounged on the roof, soaking in the sun, while reading whatever you want?
When’s the last time you had breakfast in bed served to you?
When’s the last time you had tea brought to you, how you like it, during lecture?

Ohhhhhhhhhh welcome to CNSP

ओम शान्ति

today during yoga, i had a sharp craving for the hummus platter from moosewood :(

did you know that “om” was originally not tied to religion or hinduism? it’s just the first noise in the universe, because everything has a sound. the “o” part represents extrovertness and the “m” represents introvertness. interesting, huh?

om shanti shanti shantiii

This weekend, CNSP went on a journey to Chitwan and Lumbini. Recap!

After a ten hour bus ride (it’s astonishing just HOW much dirt was flying in the bus.. legit dust bowl status), we arrived in Lumbini! Breath takingly beautiful. Amazing food. Got attacked by Korean tourists who picked me out of a large crowd.
After another five hour, bumpy, dusty bus ride, we arrived in Chitwan. Stayed at a Tharu resort… Beautiful huts, beautiful view, beautiful people. At night, we watched an intense dance by camp fire. By day, we rode elephants in the jungle while chasing rhinos, bathed with elephants, and ate too much.

After coming home (it’s weird how much the valley feels like home) and after a much needed shower, I decided to write this post!

And now…….. some lists (because I’m a virgo)

Things you should be jealous about:
- no shoes
- eating with hands
- going to the bathroom in the wilderness
- endless amounts of food (snack time is a legit and very very serious thing here)
- endless amounts of tea (delivered to us in class two times a day)
- free vacations
- CONSTANT beautiful view
- yoga class
- the casualty of diarrhea talk

Things that still take time to get used to:
- cold showers
- load shedding (aka 3 hours of electricity a day)
- the concept of the rupee (still don’t know how many rupees is one US dollar)
- my smelly sleeping bag
- “Nepali time” (e.g., We were supposed to leave Chitwan at 9 AM sharp but the bus driver decided to go on an elephant ride and romance with his wife and showed up at 10:45)
- loud and free cows mooing
- wild monkeys

This morning when I was washing my socks on the roof, I realized the fog kind of cleared. THIS is where we do our laundry……

I wish these pictures could express 1/25th of how beautiful it actually looks…
